A return to the Corner House for this award winning quartet in which leaders trumpeter Damon Brown and saxophonist Ed Jones draw on their long involvement with groove-driven music as well as more straightahead jazz. The result is something that stays close to the spirit of jazz and improvisation, but also incorporates different rhythms and textures, touching at time on genres as diverse as drum'n'bass, Latin and funk. If anything the band has become even more potent since its previous Jazz North East gig in April 2008, with the recruitment of forceful bassist Mark Hodgson and the furiously dynamic Scottish drummer Alyn Cosker.
