Chris Yates was the Secretary of Jazz North East for more than 35 years until his unexpected death last November, and this concert is a way of saying "Thank you" for the immense contribution that he made to the jazz scene in the North East and throughout the UK. National stars Alan Barnes, Tim Garland and Steve Waterman join a host of regional musicians, all of them giving their services for free so that all the ticket income can be donated to three of Chris' favourite charities, UNICEF, Amnesty International, and the National Jazz Archive.
