Although born in England, and trained as a doctor, drummer Tom Bancroft has been a major figure on the Scottish jazz scene since the early 1990s. He has worked in a wide range of groups, from the bassless trio AAB through to the large group Orchestro Interrupto. In many of these he is joined by his saxophonist twin brother Phil, with whom he is also engaged in an ongoing investigation into the psychology of musical creativity.

Tom is also well known internationally as a jazz educator through projects such as Kidsamonium, featuring the humorous approach which is a feature of much of his work.
