Born in 1966, Parisien Benoît Delbecq is one of the most innovative pianists on the international jazz scene, with a growing reputation on both sides of the Atlantic.
A former student of Mal Waldron, Muhal Richard Abrams and Alan Silva, Delbecq started to attract attention through his appearances at the iconic Paris club 'Les Instant Chavirés', and his part in the trio The Recyclers with guitarist Noël Akchoté and British drummer Steve Argüelles. An increasing use of prepared piano and electronics lent him an ever more distinctive sound. He now frequently performs as a solo artist, but also plays in a wide range of groups, including several with members of the Canadian improvising scene, with whom he has struck up a close working relationship.
