In his more sober persona as Dr Will Edmondes, Gwilly Edmondez teaches in the Music Department at Newcastle University, but as Gwilly he has been making experimental music for more than two decades. He began recording vocal samples to dictaphone in 1990, and the use of these as bases for improvised elaborations has remained a central element of his work, but he also draws on a wide range of other electronic and acoustic sources.
