Violinist Albrecht Maurer studied in Cologne, where he still lives, although his involvement with the wider European creative improvisation scene sees him performing regularly throughout the continent, and increasingly in North America. A frequent guest at international festivals, he has worked with such major figures as Bobo Stenson, Charlie Mariano and Barre Phillips, as well as leading several groups of his own, sometimes featuring the medieval 'gothic' fiddle.
