Born in Hamburg in 1978, Eva Kruse studied classical piano for 11 years before switching to the bass at the age of 14. In 1998 she moved to Berlin to study improvisation, starting to work with various jazz groups the following year, and establishing her own trio in 2002. This was the band that evolved into [em], which remains her most significant project, touring all over the world.
