As it is, he is one of the most respected figures on the UK scene, best known through his long association with Stan Tracey, but having also worked with many leading Americans. His style is influenced more by Sonny Rollins than by the other tenor giant John Coltrane, but that doesn't mean that he's in any way an imitator - on the contrary, he has his own quirky originality that is utterly distinctive.
