British-born, but resident in France for many years, Paul Rogers stands in the great tradition of European free bass players. More melodic than some of his peers (although within rapidly shifting improvised patterms), he now plays a custom-built 7-string bass that extends his range into that of the cello. His most frequent association in the UK is with saxophonist Paul Dunmall, including in the free jazz 'supergroup' Mujician.
