Ryan Quigley was born in Derry, Northern Ireland, but moved to Glasgow at an early age, and is now a prominent member of the Scottish jazz scene. As well as leading his own award winning sextet, he is a member of many other bands, including Paul Towndrow's Newology, the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (as lead trumpeter), and folk/jazz crossover groups Salsa Celtica and The Unusual Suspects. Stylistically he is close to the hard bop legacy of players like Freddie Hubbard and Lee Morgan, with a bright clear tone that is utterly distinctive.
