Born in 1948, Jan Kopinski came to prominence in the 1980s with his band Pinski Zoo, a heady mix of funk rhythms, Aylerish sax playing, and Ornette Coleman style harmolodics. Other projects have involved work with Polish musicians (Kopinski himself is of Polish extraction), and atmospheric soundscapes reminiscent of film music.
