Part of a musical family (his twin brother Tom is a drummer, and sister Sophie a vocalist), Phil Bancroft was born in London, but moved to Scotland at the age of nine. He was winning awards while still in his teens, and has been one of the key figures in the growth of the Scottish jazz scene over the past 20 years. A player of commanding harmonic and melodic imagination, he has made a series of acclaimed albums, both with his own quartet and in projects co-led with Tom.
