Originally from New York, bass player Michael Janisch moved to London a few years ago, and has rapidly become one of the busiest musicians on the scene, both as a sidesman and leading his own bands - many of which include leading American players whom he knows from the days before he relocated to the UK. His own playing is formidable, with a big tone and a consistently strong pulse, bringing to mind the great American bassist Ray Brown.
