Born in Kendal, Mark Hodgson began his musical career playing electric bass in funk and fusion bands, but was turned on to jazz by seeing the great Ray Brown with the Oscar Peterson Trio. After studying at the Guildhall School in London, he moved to Barcelona for four years, but has been back in the UK since 2003, and is increasingly in demand for work with leading British jazz musicians (Tim Garland, Julian Joseph) and visiting American stars, including Greg Osby, Randy Brecker and Steve Grossman.
